The matter index page is used to display all of your matters in Lexicata. Users can sort and filter the matters to get a curated list of the matters they are looking for. While the pipeline view is the recommended place to manage matter statuses, users can also use this page to adjust a matter's status via the status drop down. There are several components to the matter index detailed below
Matter name: Name given to the matter.
Status: The current matter status. Can be changed via this dropdown
Created at date: The date when the matter was first added into Lexicata
Value: The value given to the matter (Can be adjusted in the matter details)
Apply Filters: Allows users to filter their matters by Status, Type and Location as well as sort them in a number of different orders
Using the Matter Index
Filtering & Sorting
The matter index is most effective when you are trying to filter down you matter list to a subset of your matters. For example, you could filter your list to only estate planning matters that have a status of “pending intake form” to find all matters in which you would like to send out a reminder email. The matter index page can also be used to update matter statuses. This is especially useful if you want to update several matters at once. For example, if there were 5 matters in a “awaiting reply” status and they all reached out in a short time period, you could filter your matter list to the “awaiting reply” status and move them all to the next status quickly, without having to go to the individual matter pages. While this is an option, we still recommend using the dashboard for updating matter statuses and moving them through the pipeline.
Finally, the matter index page is also where you can export your entire matter list to a CSV file. To find out more on how the matter export works see our guide on exporting contacts and matters.
