If you need to upload and store relevant documents to a matter you can do so through our file upload feature. Once the files have been uploaded they are displayed on the "Files" tab at the top of the matter page. This feature is very useful when there are additional files that are relevant to a case and need to be kept on the matter for quick reference.
Uploading Files to Matter
Uploading files on a matter is as simple as clicking on "Files" tab at the top of the matter page and clicking the “Upload File” button and selecting the file from your computer or dragging and dropping that file from your computer's folder on the Lexicata screen.
Collecting Other Files through Forms
If you want the client to be able to send you documents that you would like to store in the “Files” section, the easiest way to do this is through the use of a form. Forms can include “file upload” questions in which the recipient can attach files.
When the form is submitted the client-attached files will automatically get pulled from the form and input into the “files” section on their matter. One thing to keep in mind is that only one file can be added per attached file question. So you may want to include several of them on a form where you may have the need to collect multiple documents.
Exporting to Clio
When the matter is exported to Clio all files that have been uploaded and attached to a matter will be exported with it. Attached files will appear in the “Documents” tab for the matter in Clio.
Currently, uploaded files cannot be renamed or put in folders. However, all uploaded files can be downloaded and deleted via the preview of the file under the Files section of the matter.
