Lexicata has 2 separate types of notes: Contact notes and Matter notes.
Contact notes are displayed in the "Notes" tab of all your contact pages, while Matter notes are displayed in the "Notes" tab of all your matter pages. You should always be aware of which page you are working on when adding a note so that you can recall where the note is when you need to go back and read it in the future.
You can certainly develop your own system for using the notes feature, but here is our recommended use of the two different types of notes:
Contact notes are intended to be used for details about the relationship with the contact. Perhaps the person's interests, family members' names, or any other details that will help you develop stronger personal relationships with them.

Matter notes are best used to keep track of details about the particular legal matter at hand. Perhaps details from a phone call or consultation with the prospective client, or any other information that will help you manage the person's developing legal matter.
