Lexicata is very flexible and customizable for the needs of any different firm. However, we do have some best practices when it comes to keeping track of both your incoming and outgoing referrals.
We wrote a lengthy blogpost on the topic covering all of the details, which you can read here.
Here's a quick summary:
Use "Referral" as the Lead Source
- Classifying all leads that come via referral into one category will give you the best aggregate stats on how many leads are from referrals compared to online marketing or other methods.
Make a Custom Field to Track Specific Referrers
- We advise using a custom field called "Referred By" which should be a "Contact Select" type of custom field in order to track who specifically referred a lead or matter.
Make a Custom Matter Status for Referred Out Matters
- In order to track matters which you refer out, we recommend making a custom matter status in your matter settings called "Referred Out" and updating the matter status accordingly.
Make a "Referred To" Custom Field for Referred Out Matters
- You can also add a custom field called "Referred To" to keep track of which attorney you referred a particular matter to and follow up on it to keep tabs on the latest progress.
