Lexicata was recently acquired by Clio, the leader in cloud-based legal technology and our longtime business partner. Joining Clio is a major leap forward in our shared vision to deliver a suite of services that address the end-to-end client journey.
To learn what this means and to address questions you may have, we’ve compiled the FAQ list below. As this acquisition is still new, we are currently in the process of finalizing some aspects of our plans. However, we are committed to keeping you informed of the latest news—which we will provide here.
Thank you, as always, for being a Lexicata customer. And if you have a question other than what’s posted here, please let us know at support@lexicata.com.

Q: What is Clio Grow?
A: Clio Grow is the next evolution of the Lexicata client intake and client relationship management (CRM) platform. Clio Grow will take Lexicata’s existing ability to streamline client intake, lead management, and data collection, and Clio Grow will add new functionality focused on growing law firms’ business and improving their clients’ experiences to drive referrals, reviews, and success.
Clio Grow will additionally benefit law firms by:
- Launching a more cohesive integration between Clio’s current practice management platform (now known as Clio Manage) and Clio Grow, the new client intake and legal CRM software.
- Introducing a suite of Clio products (Clio Grow and Clio Manage) that can either be purchased separately or bundled together to create a truly end-to-end client experience, from intake to invoice.
Q: With the current availability of Clio Grow, what does that mean for the Lexicata platform?
A: We are no longer selling Lexicata subscriptions to new customers, but current Lexicata customers will continue to have the same user experience as always.
For the foreseeable future, the Lexicata product and Help Center will be maintained as-is; a new benefit you can experience, however, is that we have added 24/5 customer support (12:00 a.m. Monday-11:59 p.m. Friday PST).
Q: I currently use both Lexicata and Clio. What happens now that Clio Grow has been released?
A: The Lexicata product will be maintained as-is—but you can now benefit from additional 24/5 support (12:00 a.m. PST Monday to 11:59 p.m. PST Friday) for both Lexicata and Clio products.
We are working on the ability to migrate existing data and customizations from Lexicata to Clio Grow. We will update our Lexicata customers as soon as we can migrate all customizations, forms and previously created content to Clio Grow.
Should you wish to purchase Clio Grow at this point in time, you are free to do so—and you can even review the new Clio Suite pricing— however, if you switch to Clio Grow now, none of your completed work or existing Lexicata contacts, matters, or customizations will be available in your new account.
Once we are able to migrate data from Lexicata to Clio Grow, we will be able to offer you a more optimal experience with an integration between Clio Grow and Clio Manage, previously known as Clio legal practice management software, which is more powerful than you have previously enjoyed between Lexicata and Clio. We promise to keep you updated as we make progress and prioritize this transition.
Q: I currently use Lexicata but not Clio—what does the launch of Clio Grow mean for my Lexicata account?
A: Your Lexicata subscription and account will remain the same—and you will continue to experience the same quality of product—but you can now benefit from 24/5 support hours (12:00 a.m. Monday to 11:59 p.m. Friday, PST).
Q: If I currently use both Clio and Lexicata, should I still keep my Lexicata account?
A: Yes, you should. Your Lexicata account has to remain active in order for you to continue to use the platform. If you are interested in switching from Lexicata to Clio Grow in the future, let us know and we are happy to discuss with you how that will work. But for now, keep your Lexicata account active and use it as you normally do.
Q: If I want to transition my account from Lexicata to Clio Grow, when will I be able to switch?
A: We are working hard to be able to migrate existing data and customizations from Lexicata to Clio Grow. Once we are able to migrate data from Lexicata to Clio Grow, we will be able to offer you a more optimal, seamless experience between Clio Grow and Clio Manage (previously known as Clio legal practice management software); the new integration will be more powerful than what you have previously enjoyed between Lexicata and Clio. We will keep you informed as soon as we have updates on the timeline for the migration.
Q: Is Clio Grow a feature of the Clio practice management platform?
A: No, it is not. Clio Grow is a new product—a legal client relationship management (CRM) and client intake platform, to be specific—which exists independently of Clio’s practice management software (Clio Manage). Focusing on relationship management, client intake, reporting, analytics, and more for legal professionals, Clio Grow will complement and integrate with Clio Manage, but it will not be a feature of the existing Clio legal practice management software.
Q: Are Clio Grow and Lexicata separate platforms?
A: Yes. Clio Grow will build on Lexicata’s foundational feature set, with Clio’s latest technology, and is a separate product. As Clio Grow evolves, customers will see a more advanced client engagement platform not currently available on the market.
Q: When was Clio Grow released?
A: Clio Grow officially became available for purchase by the general public on January 28, 2019. Because of European GDPR restrictions, Clio Grow is currently available to North American customers only. It will become available internationally at a later date.
Q: What is the pricing for Clio Grow? And what about pricing for the full Clio Suite?
A:Clio Grow subscriptions cost $59 per user, per month—however with an annual subscription, the average price per month drops to $49. We also offer a robust professional setup package for a one-time fee (setup package pricing varies based on firm size).
Clio Grow is also available for purchase as part of the Clio Suite. The new Clio Suite offers a combination of Clio Grow + Clio Manage (Boutique) for $99, or Clio Grow + Clio Manage (Elite) for $125 (per user, per month). By purchasing the end-to-end Clio Suite solution, you can save up to 26% (based on the individual prices for Clio Grow and Clio Manage). Please feel free to contact our team for more information.
Firms interested in our Clio Enterprise offering, please contact us for a quote.
Q: Is Clio Grow included with my current Clio subscription?
A:No, Clio Grow is a separate product, so it needs to be purchased and paid for separately.
You can, however, purchase the Clio Suite to benefit from both products (Clio Grow and Clio Manage) combined in one end-to-end solution.
Q: In which countries is Clio Grow currently available?
Clio Grow is currently available to North American customers only. If you reside outside of North America but not in EMEA, please contact our support team.
For EMEA customers, we are working on additional updates, and Clio Grow will become available internationally at a later date.
Q: Is Lexicata going to integrate with other legal practice management platforms?
Lexicata currently integrates exclusively with Clio for legal case management software. Should future integrations be on the roadmap, we will inform you as soon as we have updates.
Q: Will Lexicata continue to integrate with applications besides Clio?
A: Yes. For the foreseeable future, Lexicata will continue to operate as it always has, maintaining its current integrations.
Q: In the short term, are there going to be any updates to the Lexicata product?
A: As of right now, our focus is on:
- Evolving our current feature set into Clio Grow, where you will see more advanced client engagement features roll out.
- Ensuring a smooth transition for Lexicata customers to the Clio Grow platform.
While we work towards these goals, you will be able to use our existing platform as you always have.
Q: Will Lexicata’s Account Managers continue to operate as they have previously?
A: No—we are upgrading our support experience and offering 24/5 customer support, powered by Clio’s award-winning team, which will be provided by in-house product experts in place of Account Managers. We know you don’t always work traditional hours, and this change will provide you with the round-the-clock support you need.
If you have additional questions about our new customer support structure, please read these Help Center articles: Update on Lexicata Account Management, and New: 24/5 Customer Support.
Q: Why did Lexicata get acquired by Clio?
A: Client expectations have evolved, and we want to support you in delivering exceptional client experiences. Clio shares our vision of changing the way people interact with legal services. Our joint goals are to make legal services more accessible to all, and to make the practice of law easier and more enjoyable for legal practitioners.
Joining Clio is a major leap forward in our shared vision to deliver a suite of services that address the end-to-end client journey. Clio’s mantra is to transform the practice of law, for good—and we want to do the same thing.
Q: If I have other questions, who should I contact?
A: If you have any questions please email support@lexicata.com.
